CATCHA STAR RETURNS HOME

Six years ago Mark and Cathy (Directors of Topsail Australia) set sail from Darwin, with little idea of what surprises life had in store for them.

Having set sail in April 2010 from Fremantle, they had a fairly rough passage up the west coast of Australia, until they were north of Broome. From there, the idea of continuing with some tropical motor/ sailing sounded inviting and they decided to continue.

A four day passage to Kupang followed and then across the top of the Floures Islands, with many weeks spent amongst the amazing Komodo Islands. New friends were made and many a sea and land adventure later, they eventually arrived in Singapore. Once again bad weather had taken its toll, as they had been enjoying the islands and bays on Indonesia for longer that they should and the monsoon winds caught up with them.

Repairs were made in Singapore, and it was here that they discovered Topsail Insurance. Their current insurance policy had proved to be less than adequate and so a change of insurer was needed. While sailing around Malaysia and then on to Thailand, Mark and Cathy found there were many other yachts with similar insurance concerns.

Five years later and having made many referrals to Topsail Insurance, the proposal of opening a Topsail Insurance office in Australia was discussed. Topsail Insurance Pty Ltd opened their doors in early 2015 and Catcha Star was berthed in Yacht Haven Marina, with the idea that a couple of sailing holidays a year would be in order. That was the plan anyway…

The Topsail business in Australia, SE Asia and New Zealand boomed and only one short sailing holiday was achieved during 2016. The decision was made to have Catcha Star delivered home, where six years to the day since leaving Australia, she will once again be berthed in Fremantle Sailing Club.
